Romu Keinänen Oy is a family-owned company specialised in metal recycling.
Our group employs approximately 74 permanent employees and our net sales were about MEUR 57 in the year 2022.
We collect, take in and process recyclable industrial, demolition, agricultural and municipal scrap.
We resell sorted and recycled raw material for export or domestic industry.
Our customers include companies as well as private individuals, and the size of the recycled products ranges from sardine tins to power plants.
We want to be involved in developing the recycling of secondary raw materials and in promoting the circular economy in our region.
Taking responsibility for the environment also means concrete actions, continuous self-monitoring and cooperation with environmental authorities and local residents.
We have three metal scrap recycling plants which have obtained environmental permits. They are located in Espoo, Vantaa and Karjaa.
We are a member of the Finnish Scrapdealers Association.
Espoo processing plant
Founded in 2001, our processing plant in Kauklahti, Espoo, is Romu Keinänen Oy’s first scrapyard.
It is also Romu Keinänen Oy’s smallest scrapyard at 0.33 hectares.
Until this day, the Kauklahti scrapyard has functioned as Romu Keinänen Oy’s headquarters.
Our service point in Espoo serves corporate and private customers in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
In 2022, the processing plant recycled nearly 3,700 end-of-life vehicles.
We purchase and receive metal scrap and non-ferrous metal from businesses and consumers. The Kauklahti scrapyard is also an official take-back point for end-of-life vehicles.
Karjaa processing plant
Founded in 2008, the 1.58-hectare processing plant in Bäljars, Karjaa, is intended especially for corporate and private customers in the western Uusimaa region.
Thanks to the very high capacity of the Karjaa processing plant, we also direct lorry loads from longer distances to Karjaa. The production plant uses the Metso Lindeman 1000-tonne steel shear.
The scrapyard also has a crane that can lift pieces of scrap weighing up to 45 tonnes. We also have our own oxy cutting equipment for cutting large and difficult pieces of scrap.
Nearly all black iron is recycled at the Karjaa processing plant. Karjaa boasts excellent traffic connections to the port of Inkoo, from where nearly all steel scrap processed by Romu Keinänen Oy is shipped away.

Vantaa processing plant
Our 1.76-hectare scrapyard in Seutula, Vantaa, was opened in 2018.
The Vantaa scrapyard serves corporate and private customers in the eastern Uusimaa region.
The scrapyard processes and containerises nearly all non-ferrous metals collected by our company.
The plant has its own cutter and two container handlers.
The scrapyard has good traffic connections to the port of Vuosaari, from where processed non-ferrous metal materials are shipped to our industrial customers.

Recovery of metal
Recycled metal material is used to replace virgin raw materials in the metal industry. This saves significant amounts of energy in transport and industrial processes. The best way we can take care of our environment is to collect recyclable material and process it efficiently into secondary raw materials for industry.

We pick up scrap metal in the Uusimaa region quickly by using good equipment. If necessary, we can use a magnet to collect small pieces of metal off the ground. Our expert personnel works in a friendly and efficient manner.

We have three take-back points for vehicles. Scrapping and deregistering your vehicle is possible at all three take-back points. If necessary, we can pick up your vehicle free of charge.
